As a preview for the new issue of #13, Dark Horse Comics presents the return of “Ghost.” Originally written by Eric Luke in 1993, “Ghost,” is about a reporter named Elisa Cameron who was killed over a story she had covered. With her ability to teleport “Jump to another location by traveling through another world” She becomes the female superhero known as Ghost.
“Ghost” was one the comic books that wasn’t really given a chance and it was underappreciated. The character is better known for her cross over hero team ups such as, The Shadow, Batgirl and Hellboy, but the series itself wasn’t that popular. It re-lunched again in 1998 with an extended origin. However, it was still unsuccessful and with exception of a couple of specials it hasn’t done anything since. Now with new writer Kelly Sue DeComnnick and illustrator Phil Noto re-lunching the series, “Ghost” fans are about to see if the third times is a charm.
Although her story was told before, this would be an interesting experiment to see how the new audience views it. Within the concept of super heroes being more main stream in today’s world, perhaps “Ghost” will be given more of a fair chance. Also, because it origin was never truly developed, there are so many possibilities that Deommnick and Noto can create when writing this series.
“There’s something about her, something about the way Phil draws her . . . I think it’s in the eyes. It’s like he’s given her a soul. She’s equal parts charismatic and creepy for me to work with, honestly,” said DeConnick. “The new series is a fresh start, an alternative take. No prior knowledge of the character or the universe is necessary. There’s a good chance you’ll be into this one too.”
Of course “Ghost,” will have a lot to live up to in comparison with the classic super heroes as well as the modern day heroes, especially when DC Comics has revamped their comics with new adventures for fans to read.
“Ghost.” first issue #0 will be on sale on September 19, 2012and issue #1 will be on sale in October 10, 2012
