Everyone’s favorite creepy uncle is back with new horror stories that will give fans goosebumps, as Dark Horse Comics relaunches the classical and terrifying comic Creepy. For the newer audience Creepy was an American horror magazine that was published in 1964 by Warren Publishing. With the help of the original editor Russ Jones, Publishing created a series of horror stories that was host by a character named Uncle Creepy.
“Creepy” is one of many comic books being brought back by Dark Horse with a revamped images to attract both the old and new audience. With DC Comics recent successes of their 52 revamped comics, one can be given the assumption that Dark Horse is either following their lead or is trying to stay current the everyday fan. Dark Horse views “Creepy” as their flagship of horror and believes that it will be successful in weeks to come.
“Creepy” was the original entertainment of horror for children who loved a good scare. It was before the “Goosebumps” book series and other series with similar style of horror. Fans of today still love a good horror story just as the fans in the past, however, with the newer audience having more access to all types of levels of horror in different types of entertainment, can the series still have that same shock value as they did before? Especially with Youtube.com allowing the people to show all types of horror movies that is beyond anyone’s dreams.
On the other hand, true comic book readers will appreciate the artwork and other efforts put in these illustrations. As a result of different writers and artists involvedin these series, one can always expect their eyes glued to the new stories that Uncle Creepy have for everyone. So the question is; are the fans ready to be frighten old school style? Only one way to find out
